Who Must Register for VAT in the UAE?
VAT registration in the UAE is mandatory for businesses whose taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in the previous 12 months, or are expected to exceed this threshold in the next 30 days.

You must register for VAT if:
- Your taxable supplies exceeded AED 375,000 in the past 12 months
- Your taxable supplies are expected to exceed AED 375,000 in the next 30 days
- You make imports that are subject to reverse charge VAT
Important Deadline
You must apply for VAT registration within 30 days of exceeding the mandatory threshold. Late registration incurs a penalty of AED 10,000.
Voluntary Registration

Log in to EmaraTax and select "Register for VAT" from the dashboard. Choose the appropriate registration type:
- Resident Person: For businesses established in the UAE
- Non-Resident Person: For overseas businesses with UAE taxable supplies
- Tax Group: For related businesses registering together
Step 3: Complete the Application Form
The application requires details about:

Step 4: Upload Supporting Documents

Step 6: Receive Your TRN
The FTA typically processes applications within 20 business days. Upon approval, you'll receive your 15-digit Tax Registration Number (TRN) starting with "100".
